The Argonauts first collaborative efforts began in the mid 1980s in New York City. The influence of masters of sonic texture such as Glenn Branca, Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson, Adrian Sherwood, Big Youth, (and a liberal dose of Pink Floyd) were readily digested and transmuted into a strange, heady, melodic brew that seemed like the whispered fever dreams of Times Square asphalt; sticky, sultry, cerebrally carnal.
Although the central band members remain, the collective has, at various times, included musicians from the Bay Area, Paris, Bangkok, Hyderabad, and Kingston, Jamaica.
